Christina and Ryan had a beautiful wedding in the 4×4 area in Corolla on the Outer Banks. Their ceremony happened atop a large dune with the blue waters of the Atlantic accompanied by a warm spring sun to keep the chill of a light wind in check. Not only is a destination wedding a fun get away with family and friends but Christina and Ryan’s remote location on the Outer Banks made it even more memorable. Christina and Ryan had a great group of friends and family that made their day a great celebration.

Joe Mauer for ESPN The Magazine

This past summer, we spent four days photographing Joe Mauer of the Minnesota Twins for ESPN The Magazine’s special Age Issue. If you are not from Minnesota or a baseball fan, Joe is a huge sports icon in the community as he grew up here and is now playing for the hometown team.

ESPN wanted us to go beyond the action on the field and capture who Joe was as an athlete both off and on the field so it was fun getting to see what he does to prepare for the game. He was great to work with, which in turn made our job easy. It was nice to get to know Joe beyond being a baseball player and chat about things beyond the sport.

Kitty Hawk Pier Wedding Photography :: Kristen + Paul

Before Hurricane Sandy brought any drama to the Outer Banks Kristen and Paul had a beautiful wedding day on the beach. The day took them from Kristen’s mom’s vacation home where Kristin got ready – from there they took a short trolley ride to Holy Redemeer Catholic Church to say their I Dos and finally ended with a night full of endless celebration at the Kitty Hawk Pier House.

Kristen and Paul were a chill couple as were their wedding party and even a random afternoon rain shower during their portraits couldn’t diminish the mood and energy of their group. A wedding day is a great time and Kristen, Paul, the wedding party and their guests embraced that with their lively celebration that lasted until the last song played. Their night ended with a grand exit through a sea of sparklers as they walked on to the next chapter in their love story.

Megan and Kyle’s wedding day could easily be summed up with two words – intimate and colorful. It was the perfect backyard beach wedding filled with breathtaking and meaningful details – lots of details! Everything from the banner flags hanging around the wooden fence to the flowers and food was created with incredible creativity and care. It was the perfect day for such a fun and colorful couple to celebrate their love for each other.

Kelley + Nathan :: Kitty Hawk Pier House Wedding

Kelley and Nathan found themselves surrounded by family and friends at the always stunning Kitty Hawk Pier house for a wedding on an unseasonably calm and warm day. With the warm September sun shining down the two said their vows to the delight of all in attendance including bystanders watching from the pier up above.

A beautiful day turned into an even better night that included a father daughter dance that Kelley, her dad and their guests will never forget with Kelley surprising her dad by playing a video of her dancing with her dad as a young girl. There wasn’t a dry eye in the pier house. The tears of joy quickly dried and Kelley and Nathan, family and friends went on to have a fun filled night of dancing.

Kristin + Tommy Wedding Film

When we interviewed Tommy and Kristin, we were reminded how much we love what we do. It allows us to document something so real and authentic. We are there to not only to document love but also to tell the story of love. We often tell couples to come to the interview with tissues because most couples end up shedding a few tears in the process. In Kristin and Tommy’s case, we didn’t even have to ask questions before the tears started flowing. We knew it was going to be a great interview – and it was. They were so honest and real and we loved getting to know them on a deeper level. We hope their love for each other inspires other couples to wait for their perfect match.

The beautiful thing about life is the moment you stop searching for something, that something you were searching for finds you. Jill and Gary were not actively seeking to find their soulmate but thanks to a persistent friend the two finally agreed to go on a blind date. That blind date led to a beautiful wedding surrounded by friends and family who flew from as far as the UK to help the two celebrate the first chapter of their love story that was filled with tears of joys, laughs with friends, and a lively ceremony that included British crackers. Congratulations Jill and Gary!
