Jill + Gary :: Minneapolis Wedding Photography

The beautiful thing about life is the moment you stop searching for something, that something you were searching for finds you. Jill and Gary were not actively seeking to find their soulmate but thanks to a persistent friend the two finally agreed to go on a blind date. That blind date led to a beautiful wedding surrounded by friends and family who flew from as far as the UK to help the two celebrate the first chapter of their love story that was filled with tears of joys, laughs with friends, and a lively ceremony that included British crackers. Congratulations Jill and Gary!

Allison + Max :: The Woods Chapel

Allison and Max were married on a September day that all couples dream of – a warm September sun without a hint of a cloud in the sky. It was perfect and combined with the picturesque Woods Chapel in Minnetonka, Minnesota – the day could not have been better for the two to say their I Dos. The venue made for a stunning backdrop for a ceremony that was filled with an incredible amount of love and devotion. Once the tears dried and a kiss sealing their love Allison and Max along with their guests went to enjoy the beatiful grounds of the Woods Chapel before moving to a night of dancing at the reception.

Outer Banks Wedding Photography :: Kristin + Tommy

Kristin and Tommy were two of the most emotional and genuine couples we have ever photographed – and we loved every minute of their wedding. It was full of tears and laughter and most of all – love.

When we first met Kristin and Tommy the day before their wedding for their Love Story interview we told them that sometimes couples cry during the interview we do. We told them not to worry though and work through the tears. Seconds into the interview the tears were already starting to flow as Tommy and Kristin started sharing their Love Story. From that moment on we knew we were photographing a couple that was madly in love and weren’t afraid to show it. Just how in tune are Kristin and Tommy? Unknown to them they bought the same cards for each other. It was only until they both opened them did they realize it. To them it wasn’t much of a surprise and just confirmed how in tune they truly are.

Their wedding happened in 100+ heat but the heat only served to enhance their beautiful beach wedding. After a heartfelt ceremony Kristin and Tommy along with all their guests walked to the ocean’s edge with a seashell in hand and while making a wish threw their shell into the Atlantic. With wishes made, it was time for a night of dancing and laughter. Kristin and Tommy along with their guests danced the night away with a sense of a purpose. And rightfully so they had a beautiful couple to celebrate.

As the night came to a close the day ended as any 100+ day should – with a belly flop contest in the pool!

The Sanderling Wedding :: Amy + Jeff

Amy and Jeff’s relationship like all good relationships started as a friendship and from there it grew into more. “To lose her would be to lose everything,” Jeff said about his love for Amy. “It is hard to define love but I know I feel something that I never have felt when I am around Amy and the boys.”

Last weekend, surrounded by family, close friends and two very special young boys, Amy and Jeff became more than just friends – they became a family. Their celebration was filled with tears of a joy and the ocean played a perfect harmony as the two said their vows on a memorable summer day. They turned their wedding into more than a day-long celebration. It became a week-long vacation/celebration for their closest friends and family and The Sanderling proved to be the perfect venue to house all their guests.

Amy and Jeff ended their night dancing not as a couple but as a family with their two boys. We could not have scripted a better ending for the beginning of a new and meaningful chapter in their life.

Suzanne + Jon :: Wedding Photography

May 19, 2012

Before the wedding day, Suzanne mentioned at weddings she loved watching the face of the groom as the bride walked down the aisle. “I can see what the bride looks like for the rest of the day, but this only happens once and I love to see his reaction.” Well, as the photos will show, Jon was glowing. In fact, they were both glowing all day.

Their wedding was intimate and meaningful. With their family as the musicians and Jon’s friend as the officiant, it was a heartfelt celebration. Both Suzanne and Jon are of Scottish descent so their ceremony included some Scottish traditions. One the most beautiful parts of the day was the handfasting ceremony, an ancient Celtic tradition, where they tied their hands together with a ribbon as a symbol of unity (tying the knot).

Suzanne and Jon met seven years ago when they were working together. The two were really good friends and everyone would ask them if they were dating. Their response would always be a resounding “NO”. Until one day they owned up to the fact that they were actually dating.

With the sun setting on the sound Suzanne and Jon ended their day surrounded by those they cared about most and began a new chapter to their love story.

Happy Mother’s Day

Lake Harriet Engagement Photos :: Jill + Gary

We had a blast with Jill and Gary last week running around Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun for their engagement session. The forecast didn’t look good for the afternoon but it ended up being one of the most beautiful spring days we have had so far in Minneapolis. The light was amazing and the trees in full bloom at the Peace Gardens in Minneapolis made a beautiful backdrop for their photos. We can’t wait for their wedding in September!

Destination Beach Wedding :: Kitty Hawk Pier NC

April 19, 2012 – Kristen and Greg met at a friend’s wedding and immediately hit it off. A week after, Greg traveled to Australia and called Kristen three times while he was gone and this started a relationship that ended in two best friends getting married on the beach.

The two love to travel and have been to Chile, Argentina, Brazil, BVI and many others. They knew a beach wedding on the Outer Banks would be a perfect semi-destination for their friends and family. Kristen said they wanted their wedding to be fun and flirty. The polka dots, balloons and gerber daisies brought it altogether.

We loved being a part of their joyful day. Greg and Kristen are full of love for each other and everyone in their lives. It is so exciting to get to know two people on one of those days where their true colors come out and Kristen and Greg were those people that glowed and their genuine and generous souls were revealed. We know their lives are going to be filled with joy and adventure.

Postcards from Minnesota :: Walker, MN

Postcards from Minnesota is a regular column that features one of our our favorite images from recent photographs of people and places in Minnesota.

About the Image:
The image of Camp Why Not is from Leech Lake in Walker, MN and taken by Jenn’s 4×5 large format camera. We were in town photographing the Eelpout Festival. Camp Why Not was off in the distance but we knew it was worth the hike across the lake. Just as we started photographing, it started snowing which was perfect for the photo that we wanted to take.
