Before the wedding day, Suzanne mentioned at weddings she loved watching the face of the groom as the bride walked down the aisle. “I can see what the bride looks like for the rest of the day, but this only happens once and I love to see his reaction.” Well, as the photos will show, Jon was glowing. In fact, they were both glowing all day.
Their wedding was intimate and meaningful. With their family as the musicians and Jon’s friend as the officiant, it was a heartfelt celebration. Both Suzanne and Jon are of Scottish descent so their ceremony included some Scottish traditions. One the most beautiful parts of the day was the handfasting ceremony, an ancient Celtic tradition, where they tied their hands together with a ribbon as a symbol of unity (tying the knot).
Suzanne and Jon met seven years ago when they were working together. The two were really good friends and everyone would ask them if they were dating. Their response would always be a resounding “NO”. Until one day they owned up to the fact that they were actually dating.
With the sun setting on the sound Suzanne and Jon ended their day surrounded by those they cared about most and began a new chapter to their love story.

Postcards from Minnesota is a regular column that features one of our our favorite images from recent photographs of people and places in Minnesota.
About the Image:
The image of Camp Why Not is from Leech Lake in Walker, MN and taken by Jenn’s 4×5 large format camera. We were in town photographing the Eelpout Festival. Camp Why Not was off in the distance but we knew it was worth the hike across the lake. Just as we started photographing, it started snowing which was perfect for the photo that we wanted to take.
